If TGEFM had a right-hand man, it would be your (probably) favorite news editor Ryan*. But Ryan also records a boatload of pop-punk adventures under the nom de guerre DUMBSKULL. Well, there may come a day when he’s too big for his britches and TGEFM ain’t the place to premiere his new albums but, by golly, we’ll do it when we have him!
On that note, TGEFM is prouder than all get out to premiere the new, sophomore LP by DUMBSKULL! Aptly titled 2, the new album is 21 tracks of home-brewed pop-punk goodness, released via the super-supportive label Laptop Punk Records. The budget is low, the dedication is high, it is the kind of musician sensibility that I dig, and you might, too. I’m not just saying that because of the whole TGEFM family thing.
Give DUMBSKULL’s new album a big old listen below, and head to the Laptop Punk Bandcamp page if you want to pick up a digital copy. As always, there is also DUMBSKULL’s Bandcamp page for a smorgasbord of the self-released material that you can’t find anywhere else, as well!
*Left-hand man: bad dad. All-hands woman**: tiffa vigilante.
**and not in a dirty sense. get your head outta the gutter.
the white drew carey (aka – Jeff Sorley) is the founder and head editor of TGEFM. He’s lived (outside of) Chicago, Madison WI, (ugh) Penn State, Lyon FR, Oxford UK, central New Jersey, and now within earshot of SFO in the Bay Area. When not scouring the web for more great bands and labels to post about, he also spends time drawing (mostly) silly sci-fi and anime stuff under the name Asplenia Studios.
