TGEFM is excited to premiere Illinois’ skate punk trio Long Birds‘ new LP I Had a Dream I was Skateboarding in full a day before its proper release. That’s right: it comes out tomorrow, 05 Nov 2021, but you can check it out here and now!
Elliot (guitar/vocals/drums [for recording]) and Mina (bass, vocals) have this to say about the release:
This album is our first big endeavor as a band. We have had this album concept and a lot of these songs in the works for a few years and finally in late 2020, we got to a point where all the songs were finished! We started recording this album in our basement in early 2021 and it took us a long time because it was just us (Elliott and Mina) doing everything ourselves. We are thrilled to finally share these songs with the world!
I Had A Dream I Was Skateboarding is a concept album about self-discovery, growing up, and trying to figure out what the point of everything is. This album means a lot to us and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
This trio is feisty, they’re fun, they sound like they don’t give a damn and do what they want. I was lucky enough to preview the album well before release, and you can check out my review of it right here.
In the meantime, lend your ears to I Had a Dream I was Skateboarding. Below that, we’ve got info on their upcoming gigs, including the album release show on 19 Nov 2021, as well as a bunch of streaming and social media links for you to pick and choose from.
