TGEFM is super-stoked to premiere the new EP by Chicago-area punks The Usuals. From the Valley to the Alley isn’t out until Friday but, hey, The Usuals and TGEFM love you and want to treat you nice!
The release is the second in a series of three planned EPs, following up last year’s Man Down, itself a tribute to the late band member Steve Katzel. It continues the band’s adherence to that unique Chicago sound while also being a product of their new lineup, and features four new tracks to keep you entertained. (full disclosure- as my art persona I did cover design work for the EP)
TGEFM asked the band about their new EP, and this is what they had to say:
We couldn’t be more excited to have From the Valley to the Alley out into the world. With Man Down, we re-imagined some classic Usuals tunes and really got a feel for one another musically, but FTVTTA is what the Usuals sound like in the here and now. It’s these five guys bringing each of their unique styles of playing to the table, like if the Power Rangers were a band and went on a bender but no one plays a flute or fights a space witch. It’s heavier, more aggressive, and more eclectic without losing the fun, raucous attitude the band has had with any lineup historically.
