Album premiere: Woolworthy’s new LP “Electric Heartbreak”

Chicago’s have returned with their first new LP in over two decades. While Electric Heartbreak doesn’t officially drop until Friday, TGEFM has the good fortune to premiere it in its entirety for you right here, right now.

The band is typically labelled as alt-rock (but influences run abound from indie to punk, and more). Their distinctive sound cemented their place in Chicago’s pantheon of unique bands that carved their own path. But, like so many acts, Woolworthy threw in the towel all those years ago. So why get back together? Bassist Rick Uncapher explains:

A year ago, we were just reliving the good times in Rudy’s basement, jamming together. Now, after 18 years, Woolworthy is back with a new record on our old label, . It’s pretty crazy but not really a reunion though. We’ve all stayed good friends and even jammed in some other bands together over the years. Reconnecting as bandmates feels more like picking back up where we left off in 2005. Here’s to the next chapter.

Visit the Woolworthy Linktree page, where you can support them at their social media, as well as find their streaming services and Bandcamp, where preorders for the new album are still available in digital download and vinyl (USA and Canada). If you’re in Europe, your best bet is the Boss Tuneage webshop to grab it on vinyl.
