Upstart ska label (“pick it up, pick it up, pick it upstart”?) Bad Time Records has announced the launch of a Kickstarter campaign for a proposed documentary THIS IS NEW TONE. The film will center on the upcoming Bad Time Records Tour 2023, featuring video of live performances from the many acts which will be partaking in the tour (either the full run, or partial), as well as the band and crew experiences.
Additionally the doc aims to “…attempt to examine the current state of the modern ska punk scene, how it fits into the broader arc of ska’s history, and try to discover if the perceived “resurgence” is accurate or inflated.”
The Kickstart campaign is currently live, and has raised a bit less than half of the $55,000 goal within the first 24 hours. As always, be aware that Kickstarter campaigns do not guarantee a finished product should the funding goal be reached or surpassed (anyone remember ONE NINE NINE FOUR?) but, on the flip side, It seems like BTR has their head in the game, so I would expect this to come to fruition should it reach that $55k.
