Iowa-based label Bloated Kat Records has released a huge, 35-track comp as a name-your-price download on Bandcamp. The comp features acts across the world, including Mikey Erg, The Kimberly Steaks, Teenage Bigfoot, Don Blake, and more.
Per the description on the Bandcamp page:
I’m no lexicographer, and I’ve struggled to figure out what to call these collected sounds. Tim Chandler writing in Corvallis , Oregon in the 1990s hit up on the phrase “buzz pop,” which comes closer than any other available terms.
But it doesn’t quite fit. This goes beyond buzz pop. This is bigger than that. This is an unstoppable force of hooks and riffs. This is….. KAT MUSIC!!
Kat Music. A new genre? You decide!
You can check out the album below and, if you dig it, head over to Bandcamp and pick up a copy.
the white drew carey (aka – Jeff Sorley) is the founder and head editor of TGEFM. He’s lived (outside of) Chicago, Madison WI, (ugh) Penn State, Lyon FR, Oxford UK, central New Jersey, and now within earshot of SFO in the Bay Area. When not scouring the web for more great bands and labels to post about, he also spends time drawing (mostly) silly sci-fi and anime stuff under the name Asplenia Studios.
