Art-core collective Plutocracy Planet have dropped the new single, “This Very Severity.” The new video features Bob Nanna (Braid, Hey Mercedes) in the anchor’s desk presenting headlines so absurd they nearly reach the depths of current events.
Plutocracy Planet is a politically-charged collective fronted by Scott Morrow and produced by Mark Rose (Spitalfield), whose debut self-titled LP will drop 12 July. In addition to Rose and Nanna, the record will also feature contributions by Jonah Matranga (Far, Gratitude, onelinedrawing) Matt Pryor (The Get-Up Kids, The New Amsterdams, Radar State), Mike Kinsella (American Football, Owen, Cap’n Jazz), Liam Wilson (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Azusa), Rody Walker (Protest the Hero), Carson Pace (The Callous Daoboys), Emily Jane White and so many more
Of the project Morrow says:
“It’s unbelievable to me that I get to work with the people on this album, I’ve been a fan—in many cases a super fan—of many of them for 20 to 25 years. It’s a mind-blowing honor that they said yes, and I still don’t really know how the hell I convinced them.”
Bad Dad (occasionally called Ed) has been on the periphery of the punk and punk-adjacent scene for over twenty years. While many contributors to this site have musical experience and talent, Ed’s musical claim to fame comes from his time in arguably the most punk rock Blockbuster Video district in NJ where he worked alongside members of Blanks 77, Best Hit TV and Brian Fallon. He is more than just an awful father to his 2 daughters, he is also a dreadful husband, a subpar writer, a terrible dresser and has a severe deficiency in all things talent… but hey, at least he’s self-aware, amirite?
