Cacerolazo demand “The Night Will Not Be Silenced” on new charity protest single and video

A Yangon, Myanmar-based collection of punks using the name Cacerolazo have released a new single called “The Night Will Not Be Silenced”.  The song is a protest anthem against the military coup that has gripped Myanmar since February.  According to the video post, the song “pays homage to the cacophony of noise that envelopes the country every night at 8pm when protesters, in resistance to the junta, bang pots and pans, which in Myanmar culture is believed to drive away evil spirits. We wanted to share in this unity by bringing people together from across the Yangon punk community to write and record our own raucous din.”

The song is available for download (“pay what you want”) from the Cacerolazo Bandcamp site.  All donations will go to the civil disobedience movement.  The band is encouraging people to give directly through I Support Myanmar.  Check out the “The Night Will Not Be Silenced” video below.
