Massachussetts “Dance Floor Democracy” act Cheap City (which features TGEFM’s own Gregnaha) have released a new music video for their song “Witch in the Alley.” The video stars, and was directed by, drag performer Obsidienne Obsurd; and the track comes from Cheap City’s 2018 debut LP Clocktower Broke.
Per Greg:
(the song) blends comedic storytelling with an indictment of both gentrification, inspired by their time living in Salem, MA: “white women cosplaying as witches.”
That track is also being released today as a $1 flexi disc. You can check out the video below (Obsidienne is a treat), and visit the Cheap City Bandcamp page to hear more, or pick up that flexi disc.
the white drew carey (aka – Jeff Sorley) is the founder and head editor of TGEFM. He’s lived (outside of) Chicago, Madison WI, (ugh) Penn State, Lyon FR, Oxford UK, central New Jersey, and now within earshot of SFO in the Bay Area. When not scouring the web for more great bands and labels to post about, he also spends time drawing (mostly) silly sci-fi and anime stuff under the name Asplenia Studios.
