OK, so the song is “Modern Day Ghost,” but the chorus says “modern day ghosts” and I’m here just trying make a pithy headline out of it. Well, I may have failed but, thankfully, the band hasn’t.
Strange to think it’s been over three years since I last wrote about Pittsburgh’s City Escape Artist and their track “And We Sing.” But here we are, CEA has a new single and it’s the title track to their just-announced fourth LP. 2025 doesn’t look so bad now.
The band label themselves as melodic punk, and they’re not wrong. But there’s also a lot of technicality mixed in as if someone took the wrong exit to melodic hardcore and found out it’s not such a bad place to visit. The song is fast, it’s fun. It’s got sweet lixx. What more can you ask for?
A release date? OK, we ain’t got that yet for you. But as soon as we know it, you will, too.
In the meantime, check out the single below, and hear more City Escape Artist at their Bandcamp or Spotify.
