Veteran melodic hardcore act Darko had some big shoes to fill when vocalist Dan Smith departed in 2020 (heading back home to Australia). The band persevered and brought on Almeida‘s Tom West, and now they’ve released their first new new music since 2017’s Bonsai Mammoth.
The new song, “The Ladder”, comes from the band’s just-announced SPARKLE EP, which is due out this coming summer via regularly collaborating labels Lockjaw Records and Thousand Islands Records. The track also features guest vocals by Follow Your Dreams‘ Katz Hensley.
The new track also receives the video treatment below but, for those who are keen to hear the entire EP before its official release, the band also has made available 34-minute making of doc titled SPARKLE IN MOTION, which is available to rent via Vimeo.
the white drew carey (aka – Jeff Sorley) is the founder and head editor of TGEFM. He’s lived (outside of) Chicago, Madison WI, (ugh) Penn State, Lyon FR, Oxford UK, central New Jersey, and now within earshot of SFO in the Bay Area. When not scouring the web for more great bands and labels to post about, he also spends time drawing (mostly) silly sci-fi and anime stuff under the name Asplenia Studios.
