Throughout last year Pure Noise Records, collaborating with Pabst Blue Ribbon, released a steady stream of cover songs under the moniker Dead Formats Vol. 1, culminating in the full album being released at the end of the year (TGEFM’s review). Last week they announced the second volume, with new covers by Lavalove, Less Than Jake, and Knuckle Puck.
The preorders for the new volume are officially live (see link at the bottom), and three new covers are available.
First up is UK’s The Chisel, covering the Elton John classic “Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting)” and, guess what, this one’s a proper music video!
Next up is Long Island’s heavy pop-punk act Koyo with their rendition of Jawbreaker‘s “Do You Still Hate Me?” from the 1994 album 24 Hour Revenge Therapy.
Finally for this batch we get Prince Daddy & The Hyena doing the one-hit wonder(?) New Radicals and their one hit “You Get What You Give” from their sole 1998 album Maybe You’ve Been Brainwashed Too.
Preorders, streams, and more can be found over at the Dead Formats link page.
