Austrian punk band DeeCRACKS have announced the departure of their bass player Paul Coyote. In a Facebook post, DeeCracks left the following message:
“THE END OF AN ERA! Our beloved friend, companion and bassplayer PAUL COYOTE has decided to leave DeeCracks. Not a time to be sad though, as we are extremely thankful for the 7 and a half years full of traveling, playing, laughing, sweating together and happy about everything we’ve got to experience with him . We’re gonna miss him dearly, but we get to let him go as an even closer friend as he was coming into this band and we are happy to see where his life with his wonderful family will be taking him. Paul, we will love you forever, thank you for everything! Enjoy the next chapters in your life to the fullest, we’ll be proudly at your side for them too. Oh, and we hope you find time to write that DeeCracks biography… Haha. Anyway, Paul will still be playing all shows this summer! Come and give him a hug! And us too…Love, DeeCracks”
Paul also posted his own statement:
“Yes, it’s true. I made a decision, and it is time to say goodbye and bow out, I guess. It is a bit heartbreaking, but I don’t see myself going on tour much in the future. However, in my mind, DeeCracks are – and will always be – about touring. This is a very active group who can’t sit still for a long time. In my heart, I feel nothing but gratitude, friendship and admiration for Mike and Matt. They took me to see so many places and I got to know so many great folks. Seven and a half years, more than 200 shows, three continents, two studio records and so much more – what a fantastic and surreal trip it has been … Anyway, there are still a few shows ahead that I am looking really forward to playing!”
Before the end, the band (with Paul) is going to finish their slate of summer concert dates in Europe, with stops at Punk Rock Raduno in Bergamo, Italy (17 July), Vienna, Austria (6 August), Kalgenfurt, Austria (24 September), and Innsbruck, Austria (25 September). Stay tuned for other band-related updates.
