Deer Tick take on The Boss with “Dancing in the Dark” cover

For me, “Dancing in the Dark” isn’t a song about romance, but instead a desperate plea to break out of some degraded, stagnant situation. The narrator is filled with angst, self-doubt and the only way out is to the sheer force of unwavering willpower. Bruce really shows us who he is on this one and it looks an awful lot like the rest of us.

Sadly, no Courtney Cox, though.

Rhode Island indie/pop act Deer Tick have released a cover of the classic 80s song “Dancing in the Dark,” originally by Bruce Springsteen. The cover coincides with the launch of the next leg of their Emotional Contracts tour, which will see them on the road for most of October and November. Portions of the trip will see Rafay Rashid, Country Westerns, or Abby Hamilton joining the band for a spell.
