Sacramento’s Dog Party have released a surprise, two-song single today in celebration of guitarist-vocalist Gwendolyn’s birthday. The album, Today I started Loving You Again, takes its name from the lead track, originally by Merle Haggard and also features “I Just Don’t Understand,” originally performed by Ann-Margret, as the b-side.
Gwendolyn has this to say on the release’s Bandcamp page:
Taking these songs to the studio was an exciting project as well as a challenge. Both songs were extremely fun to play on guitar. By the end of the session my hands were covered in bandaids but I had the biggest smile on my face! We had just started to expand our vocals around that time and I wouldn’t be where I am at today vocally if we hadn’t started experimenting more in this direction
Dog Party’s most recent album, Hit & Run, was released in June of last year. You can check out their new single below.
