Angry Adults – Obsessed With You

13 Dec 2021

The shape of punk’s wheel gets more difficult to reinvent each year, but when you find a band that doesn’t try to exist outside of that shape or pretend to be more, it’s kind of refreshing.

Why you want it:  Angry Adults expertly pair their melodic & crunchy guitars with carefree vocal delivery. Not bad, Helsinki!

Why you don’t: None of this sounds like it was pored over and over for edits, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Top Tracks: “I’m Alright”

Broken Vow – Sane Minds End

Sunday Drive Records – 03 Dec 2021

90s style dog-pile hardcore with searing beats and scorching commentary.

Why you want it: For fans of all things great about basement shows in the Northeast circa 1998.

Why you don’t: Weak-willed, lily-livered weenies will be too concerned with the spastic puckering of their sphincter to enjoy the throwback vibes.

Top Tracks: “Illusion” “Broken Vow”

MC Lars – Blockchain Planet

Horris Records – 17 Dec 2021

Flag bearer of lit-hop returns with politically charged and slightly angrier LP that may be the best of his prolific career.

Why you want it: Humor, politics and all-around good time from the pioneer of nerdcore, guaranteed to put a smile on your face and tap to your toes.

Why you don’t: If you find yourself more inclined to listen to Joe Rogan than anyone not profiting off of stupidity, extremism and extreme stupidity you’ll probably be too busy trying to drunkenly fistfight your school board than to enjoy this solid outing.

Top Tracks: “Fear of a Blockchain Planet,” “$5.75”
