Drive-by Reviews: July 2026 Releases

When a TGEFM staffer just doesn’t have the time to write up a full review for an EP or LP, they can do a quick one for the Drive-by Reviews feature. Think of it like a Cliff’s Notes for reviews– You’ll get the gist of it without all of the verbiage.

Bart and the Brats – “Brats Being Brats 7in”

Big Neck Records – 10 July 2026

Bart is back with four new songs on this EP. I am pretty sure Bart is also all of the Brats.

Why you want it: This is just fun high energy power pop / garage punk that is bass heavy, full of guitar distortion (all three chords), maybe even some organ, you never know what you are going to get.

Why you don’t: You need more than three coffees before noon.

Top Tracks: “This is a hold-up”, “Kill your TV”

The Feeders – “Dark Days”

24 July 2026

Chicago indie pop-punk trio second full-length release since their 2021 debut album Kerchoo.

Why you want it: It’s light, casual, fuzzy, and catchy, a little bit indie rock, a little bit pop-punk, a little bit power-pop, and just fun to listen to.

Why you don’t: If you not fans of bands like Superchunk, Weezer, or The Muffs then you might not be into this.

Top Tracks: “Benevolent”, “Why Do We Fight”, “Sara, You’re My Savior”

Moody Goods – “Southern Lights”

Outhouse Records / Boss Tuneage Records – 17 July 2026

The debut full-length album for the UK garage punk rock band.

Why you want it: Loud and noisy, thumping and rockin, and I want to say this has a “southern” US feel but the band is from England.

Why you don’t: It’s good, but it’s nothing groundbreaking if you need your new music to blow your mind or something.

Top Tracks: “Break Free”, “Treacle Pits”, “Jeans & T-Shirt”

Various Artists – “Green Day Tribute Volume Three”

Coffin Curse Records – 23 July 2026

This is the third installment and I reviewed the first two already last month so let’s dive into this one. Once again, all the proceeds go to one of three no-kill animal rescues.

Why you want it: 59 tracks that span several music genres, there is something for everyone, even if you don’t care for Green Day.

Why you don’t: There is a lot of county / folksy versions.

Top Tracks: “The Ballad Of Wilhelm Fink” – Bitter and Distractions, “Maria” – Plastic Flamingos, “Desensitized” – Eyes of Salt, “Burnout” – Skulls, “She” – Dungeon of Skeletons
