Drive-by Reviews: June 2026 Releases

When a TGEFM staffer just doesn’t have the time to write up a full review for an EP or LP, they can do a quick one for the Drive-by Reviews feature. Think of it like a Cliff’s Notes for reviews– You’ll get the gist of it without all of the verbiage.

The Aggrolites – “Super Atomic”

Pirate Press Records – 5 June 2026

The first new full-length album since 2019 for the dirty reggae gritty California based band.

Why you want it: You got your instrumentals, your anthems, songs that reach your soul, your energy packed tunes, and then the tracks that just put a smile on your face.

Why you don’t: Don’t expect a big departure from what they are known for.

Top Tracks: “Live By The Code”, “Super Atomic”, “Run Come Reggae”

The Bouncing Souls – “Born to Be”

Epitaph Records – 26 June 2026

The 13th studio album from the New Jersey almost 40-year veterans.

Why you want it: Communally creative with a more strip down feel, focusing on some of the current times, and trying to find good in a divided world.

Why you don’t: There are some bangers and some songs that may be less replayable for some.

Top Tracks: “The Light”, “All the Good Things”, “Lighthouse”

The Doomstompers – “Take a Beat”

Bad Time Records – 12 June 2026

The debut album from the Punk Rocksteady Ska ensemble out of Queens New York.

Why you want it: Bass and drums, strong vocals, and that killer organ sound, Back to the Future movie clips, a little punk, a little dub, lots of Rocksteady ska, it’s got everything you want and everything you need.

Why you don’t: You don’t really need another song called “Irish Goodbye”.

Top Tracks: “Next Week”, “Brianna”, “Throwin A Fit”

Sincere Engineer – “Probable Claws”

Hopeless Records – 26 June 2026

The fourth studio album in ten years since the Chicago band formed (ten years already?!). You can get this on vinyl, CD, and order it with a t-shirt and 1,000 piece puzzle bundle.

Why you want it: This album has everything, kick ass songs full of positive punk rock high energy shout-a-longs with relatable lyrics, tight musicianship, clean recordings, emotional slow jams, humorous doses at times, and even a great silly album title, oh, and a cameo from Wil Wheaton!

Why you don’t: You just don’t want to hear what could be the album of the year.

Top Tracks: “Twist My Tongue”, “Cooler”, “Fast Forward, Rewind”

Various Artists – “Green Day Tribute Volume One and Two”

Coffin Curse Records – 20 June 2026

This is broken up into two separate releases as it is like sixty tracks of punk and ska-punk Green Day covers. Some sound very much like Green Day and some take on a sound of their own and completely change the feel of song and some switch to an Op Ivy song during the bridge.

Why you want it: All of the proceeds will be donated to one of two no-kill animal rescues, C.A.R.E. of Dutchess County in Wappingers Falls, NY and Williams Animal Center in Knoxville, TN

Why you don’t: I don’t know a lot of these songs, but that is not necessarily a bad thing as it just makes these seem like originals, depending on your stance with Green Day that could be positive or negative.

Top Tracks: “No One Knows”, “Going To Pasalacqua”, “Geek Stink Breath”, “Babs Uvula Who”, “The Grouch”, ‘King For A Day”
