Exclusive Premiere: Death Kill Overdrive single “Zero Dollars and Zero Cents”

TGEFM is excited to premiere a new single from Death Kill Overdrive, called “Zero Dollars and Zero Cents”.

Death Kill Overdrive is a new band out of Iowa City.  The band contains members of Lipstick Homicide, Starry Nights, Dryad, and In The Mouth of Radness.  They are currently working on their first record, a self-titled long EP/short album, that is expected later this spring through Bloated Kat Records.

“Zero Dollars and Zero Cents” is their first song.  According to guitarist and vocalist Oliver Weilen, the song is a response to the protests that gripped America last summer.  Weilen states “I wrote this song during the summer protests that were sparked after the Minneapolis Police Department murdered George Floyd.  Specifically this song is directed at all those who clutched their pearls in response to some protesters looting.  People crying over a fucking Walmart or a Target getting cleaned out are absolute clowns.  Every day we working people are getting ripped off, and the wealth we create gets stolen from us and siphoned into the bank accounts of some.  This is especially demonstrated and magnified in BIPOC communities that are over-policed and under-served after centuries of oppression and genocide.  This song is an attempt at capturing the joyous occasion where oppressed and working people stand together and demonstrate who holds the power, even if just for a day, and enact some well deserved revenge against a violent system that’s rigged against us.”
