Ex Parents debut album is coming out 07 Jul 2023 via Culture Desert, with vinyl pre-orders available at the links below. Ahead of the release, the band has dropped the lead single and video for a song called “Divorce Doctor”.
“Divorce Doctor” is a ripping hardcore number with cutting guitars playing destructive and searing riffs as the drums bash away and vocals howl and scream in riveting ways – I even might hear a little bit of Black Flag-era Rollins in how certain vocal notes are held onto at the end of certain lines. Most impressively, the song structure is written in such a way that I stay engaged. Sometimes, a song like this loses me after a bit if it just seems like nothing but blistering rage. Not the case for this one. Shifting directions from ravaged crushing blast to stuttered guitars and back, tossing in killer guitar runs, and slowing to a ferocious stomp, “Divorce Doctor” keeps my attention. Plus, I really think the video (made by Meathands) is cool.
