First Impressions are whiz-bang reviews of singles, 7″s, EPs, and LPs which are given a review after a single listen. This is a great way for TGEFM to showcase some of the releases which may not get a full review on their own.

Manarovs have a new and fantastic single available. “Agent V.” just released, following up May’s way cool self-titled effort that arrived via Mom’s Basement Records and instantly moved the band high up on my listening habits list. The song (no info about it being anything more than a standalone single) is available for purchase from Bandcamp and can be streamed via the usual services (see below).
So if you ever gave the full-length a listen, you’ll know pretty much what to expect from “Agent V.” It’s persistently propulsing forward with chainsaw guitars and straightforward bass going along for the ride. Vocals alternate between the cleaner bellows and the raspy shouts and there’s a nice Ramones-style spell-out of “J-a-s-o-n” during the bridge. Toss on a tom-dominated section and a little lead guitar and you pretty much have the song. This is some no-nonsense punk rock that is high energy and catchy. Over-and-out in under two minutes. Good stuff.
