's my sort of thing – all gritty power pop with a hardcore bite.  Ahead of the release of the upcoming Life Under The Gun, the band has dropped a third single, following up the previously released “Do It Faster” and “Very High” – both stellar, by the way.  The new one's called “Will Logic”.

“Will Logic” opens with a persistent slightly-less-than-clean guitar before being joined by vocals.  After a couple of lines, the stomping caveman drums burst out for a bright and angsty chorus.  When they return to the verse, the drums shift from bash to steadfast and the song gets, um, pretty, maybe?  And then back to the big aggressive chorus.  This one feels so much like an awesome 90s alternative song – one I would've eaten up in 1996 or so and one that I'm eating up right now.  This 90s redux thing is popping up in many corners of the hardcore-adjacent world (see also: Turnstile, Drug Church, Praise, Higher Power) and in Militarie Gun's hands, I'm certainly up for it. This one hits the mark (as have pretty much all of their previous stuff) and I'm not sure when they might miss.  Recommended.

First Impressions are whiz-bang reviews of singles, 7″s, EPs, and LPs which are given a review after a single listen. This is a great way for TGEFM to showcase some of the releases which may not get a full review on their own.
