First Impressions are whiz-bang reviews of singles, 7″s, EPs, and LPs which are given a review after a single listen. This is a great way for TGEFM to showcase some of the releases which may not get a full review on their own.

NOT, a new band featuring members of Mercy Music and Sharp Shock have already released a couple of excellent Descendents/ALL-inspired songs. Now, the band has announced the release of a full-length titled Stop The World. That one’s due out 14 Apr 2023 with more info yet to come. Along with the announcement is a new single, “Alien”.
“Alien” fits right in line with the songs already released. It’s a highly melodic pop punk song with the requisite buzzing and persistent guitars and some supremely memorable and busy bass notes mixed in with lots of rhythmic stop-and-go’s and a stuttered bridge. Over top it all is a sincere and heartfelt lead vocal take that emotes a loneliness backed up by the words. During the back half, subtle backing vocals come along and land pretty right, too. This is another killer song. I have a feeling fans of Descendents and ALL will like this a bunch.
