First Impressions are whiz-bang reviews of singles, 7″s, EPs, and LPs which are given a review after a single listen. This is a great way for TGEFM to showcase some of the releases which may not get a full review on their own.

Öldie Häwn‘s back with a new album on the way and ahead of the release they’ve offered up lead single “To Agnes – With Love”. The album’s called Missing Time and will be arriving via Otitis Media Records in April. After really liking 2020’s Everybody Knows EP, I’ve got some high expectations for the new one and this lead single doesn’t disappoint.
“To Agnes – With Love” opens with some melodic guitars, full of bright tone and energy. Likewise, the vocals sing a catchy tune with some lines taken only by the lead vocalist while others have backing vocals echoing the lead. And they end their verse lines with a quick rhythmic hook. Maybe my favorite part lands during closing. The vocals are pretty perfectly executed with the lead singing about “the best nights of our lives” while backing vocals sing the song title in a way that comes across almost like singing rounds. It’s truly well done and seems to be the part that sticks most. Nothing but pop goodness here.
