First Impressions are whiz-bang reviews of singles, 7″s, EPs, and LPs which are given a review after a single listen. This is a great way for TGEFM to showcase some of the releases which may not get a full review on their own.

Rough Kids are back with a new song, this one a cover of the great song “Attitudes” originally done by The Brat. The original is a ridiculously catchy angst-ridden songs from the early 80s. And on this Dirt Cult Records-released cover, Rough Kids try to replicate the same singalong catchiness and energy found on the first take.
Thankfully, they do well by it. The guitars have a fantastic bite and the whole band keeps up a frenetic pace, ripping off quick guitar leads that alternate between melodic and infesting, but it works however they go over top the music basics. The vocals have more of a punk sneer than The Brat version and the whole song ends up coming off as simply a heavier and dirtier garageband take on a slightly-less-rowdy first wave punk song. This is a worthy take and worth your time.
