So a few years back this Minneapolis band called Tightwire came pretty much outta nowhere (at least to me) and knocked me out with a debut full-length called Six Feet Deep. Now, the band is back, announcing a new full-length called Head Full Of Snakes. That one is due out 09 Jun via Red Scare, with pre-orders available at the links down below. Along with the announcement comes the lead single “Anyone But You”, a song that originally came out on a 2-song single in November of 2021.
“Anyone But You” plays to all Tightwire's strengths: great melodies and vocal harmonies, quick pace, buzzing guitar energy, and hooks for days. The ascending vocal line that opens each verse so effectively gets coupled with some glorious backing vocals on the chorus and moves the song into must-singalong territory. Even not really knowing the words, I was trying to hit the notes by the second time through. This is a great number and if Tightwire's previous output is any indication, “Anyone But You” is one of many cool songs on the upcoming album.
