, the solo project of METZ's Alex Edkins, has a new single available.  The song is the cover of the great song called “She's the One” and it appears to be a standalone single.  That single is available for purchase at the links below and it comes with a video for the song that can be seen below.

Weird Nightmare's take is decidedly chill.  The song ambles along at a leisurely pace with sweetly strummed guitar, some tasteful chimes, and simple straightforward drums.  There's also some subtle pedal steel and unobtrusive handclaps.  The vocal melodies hang tight to the original melodies, sung in a relaxed manner that fit the general feel to this particular take, and they land right when they work in some gorgeous harmonies.  This one isn't gonna hit for those who demand a strict adherence to the Ramones take.  But it's a terrific take to me, feeling like a perfect soundtrack to a hazy summer day.  Recommended.

First Impressions are whiz-bang reviews of singles, 7″s, EPs, and LPs which are given a review after a single listen. This is a great way for TGEFM to showcase some of the releases which may not get a full review on their own.
