Scene legend Fred Mascherino, of The Color Fred, Taking Back Sunday, Terrible Things of Breaking Pangea fame, has announced a new venture in the form of Heading East Records. Fred’s announcement video can be seen below. The label will release The Color Fred’s A Year and Change LP 1 April.
A record label is nothing without the artists signed, and Mascherino has announced the first signings will be Pennsylvania’s AMORA and Connecticut’s Mighty Tortuga.
AMORA will release new single “Stay Gold, Pony Boy” 15 April, while Mighty Tortuga will be hot on their heels with the release of the “Forgive and Forget” single, 29 April. On 13 May, the label will also release the third single “Bob Dylan” from Mascherino’s daughter Lilito.
Bad Dad (occasionally called Ed) has been on the periphery of the punk and punk-adjacent scene for over twenty years. While many contributors to this site have musical experience and talent, Ed’s musical claim to fame comes from his time in arguably the most punk rock Blockbuster Video district in NJ where he worked alongside members of Blanks 77, Best Hit TV and Brian Fallon. He is more than just an awful father to his 2 daughters, he is also a dreadful husband, a subpar writer, a terrible dresser and has a severe deficiency in all things talent… but hey, at least he’s self-aware, amirite?
