Punk icon, Dave Smalley (All, Dag Nasty, Don’t Sleep, DYS, Down By Law) has been battling a cancer diagnosis and now, his friends and family have created a Gofundme to help Dave combat his growing medical bills.
Dave’s children have released a joint statement: Madeline, Abigail, Colter and Griffin:
“Hi all, Dave’s kids here. We just wanted to say thank you in advance for your support for our dad. He’s had a hell of a year with these health complications, but we’re confident that he’s on the road to recovery. Even while in the hospital he was showing us studio recordings of some new music!!! All the love you’ve been sending is appreciated. Cheers.”
For the last few decades Dave has helped so many of us come out on the other side of our mental health battles… lets return the favor by helping him with his physical and financial health.
Bad Dad (occasionally called Ed) has been on the periphery of the punk and punk-adjacent scene for over twenty years. While many contributors to this site have musical experience and talent, Ed’s musical claim to fame comes from his time in arguably the most punk rock Blockbuster Video district in NJ where he worked alongside members of Blanks 77, Best Hit TV and Brian Fallon. He is more than just an awful father to his 2 daughters, he is also a dreadful husband, a subpar writer, a terrible dresser and has a severe deficiency in all things talent… but hey, at least he’s self-aware, amirite?
