Politically motivated Melodic hardcore legends Good Riddance have dropped a new single ahead of the upcoming US election and all the anxiety and pessimism that has thrust upon the population. “No Mo System To Believe In.” shows off the quartet’s fiery and heartfelt thoughts on American politics consistently prioritizing cash over common good and status over the state of the nation.
In support of the new single and to encourage voter participation, the band has begun selling a new T-shirt and is donating 100% of proceeds to the Fair Elections Center. Grab yours here!
Vocalist Russ Rankin shares his hopes:
“A Hope…To believe in this society as a vast, interconnected body, and that the voiceless suffering and malaise of our neighbors are ours as well to bear. Actioned by lifting each other up in the small, nascent moments when there is no immediate glory or brilliant reward in it. And by reimagining the breathless vigor and star-crossed hope with which this grand experiment was originally conceived. For no machination of government, nor whip of authority, may succeed in stifling our capacity to care for, and support one another in what must ultimately be a unified struggle for vitality, liberty, and a more equitable distribution of life’s blessings.”
Bad Dad (occasionally called Ed) has been on the periphery of the punk and punk-adjacent scene for over twenty years. While many contributors to this site have musical experience and talent, Ed’s musical claim to fame comes from his time in arguably the most punk rock Blockbuster Video district in NJ where he worked alongside members of Blanks 77, Best Hit TV and Brian Fallon. He is more than just an awful father to his 2 daughters, he is also a dreadful husband, a subpar writer, a terrible dresser and has a severe deficiency in all things talent… but hey, at least he’s self-aware, amirite?
