Jersey Interchange, a collective of Garden State musicians coming together to cover classic songs from the local punk, ska and hardcore scenes, has released their latest; a reimagining of “1.21 Gigawatts” by The Break. The original can be found on the band’s 2002 self-titled album from Doghouse Records.
This week, Crossed Keys‘s Josh Alvarez and Andrew Wellbrock join Jersey Interchange mastermind Christian Lesperance (Never Again)for the track.
Previous Jersey Interchange collaborations feature members of Bigwig, Midtown, and The Ergs! among others covering the likes Misfits, Weston, and Lifetime.
Thanks to Joe Pulito, you can find many of the original tracks along with the entire discography of the Jersey Interchange at the ultra-expansive NJPP Archives here.
Bad Dad (occasionally called Ed) has been on the periphery of the punk and punk-adjacent scene for over twenty years. While many contributors to this site have musical experience and talent, Ed’s musical claim to fame comes from his time in arguably the most punk rock Blockbuster Video district in NJ where he worked alongside members of Blanks 77, Best Hit TV and Brian Fallon. He is more than just an awful father to his 2 daughters, he is also a dreadful husband, a subpar writer, a terrible dresser and has a severe deficiency in all things talent… but hey, at least he’s self-aware, amirite?
