Midwest punk quartet Heart & Lung have announced a new LP in the works, which will be their debut album on their new label Red Scare Industries. The release, Twistin’ The Knife Away, is due out 15 Oct 2021 and is a follow-up to their (stellar) 2017 album You Wanna Know The Truth?
Heart & Lung have this to say about the new release:
Twistin’ The Knife Away is about general frustration with the status quo, grieving over lost pets, chronic pain, mental health and complete shock that we’re even alive. This is our lives filtered through the music that we want to hear. Originally, the pandemic put a firm stop to all our plans and we hoped to release this record once things had become more normal. But with impending doom now being an indefinite state of affairs, there’s really nothing left to lose. Enjoy!
When asked about signing Heart & Lung into the Red Scare family, Toby Jeg says:
We heard about Heart & Lung because they’re deeply involved in their community and are the go-to band for punk shows in Cleveland. And with three singers, this band has as much harmony as they do good karma. Real sweethearts—but they can party too! Imagine the smooth melodies of the Smoking Popes blended with rowdy Midwest punk like Dillinger Four. Look, they have three singers, so they can kinda do what they want, ya know? And with LeBron outta the way, Cleveland is long overdue for a punk champion! “Twistin’ The Knife Away” may be their Red Scare debut, but this band is no stranger to live shows. They’ll be hitting the road and reppin’ the North Coast all over the globe in support of this fantastic LP. And have we mentioned they got three singers?!?
