“Hey Dick Savvy” single released by The Felonz

“‘Hey Dick Savvy’ is a song I wrote after a phrase my dad would always use. He would give you instructions on a chore he would always say, “Do you Savvy my Lingo?” Hence the chorus of the song. This song and three others we recorded on a day that would be the very last that The Felonz would record. The guitarist on the song is Justin Morris. He is a great guitar player. He was brought on board after Justin Warren the bassist for Moral Crux couldn’t do it due to previous obligations. I met Justin in a record store. He was wearing a Johnny Thunders and The Heartbreakers or a New York Dolls shirt. Anyway I commented on how cool his shirt was and that was that. Ratt Fink is the bassist. I’m doing all the vocal work. Also drums. It was October 2002 when we decided to do it. My friend Justin Goodrich was a recording engineer in music. He took some college courses on it. I don’t know for sure if he obtained his degree or not but he is a whiz behind a board. The Felonz were practicing in an abandoned trailer. Some would call it a mobile home. Not because it has wheels on it, but because it is moved mobile. So we used a extension cord in our practice spot that was plugged into my in-laws house. The trailer was across the driveway. What we did was really crazy. So my friend Justin Goodrich the engineer put microphones in all the right places. He had a 1992 I believe Jeep Cherokee. He had his board in the back of his rig. So I guess you could say it was like a mobile studio. We recorded everything in one day. Recorded all the vocals in a few hours at his apartment. I remember I was actually singing in the shower. The mix that you are listening to is his 2014 mix.”
