This is a developing story, and TGEFM will continue to update as new developments come to light.
I the Mighty is the latest band to face allegations of sexual misconduct following the recent news surrounding Burger Records and Culture Abuse.
The band has announced they are indefinitely on hiatus following allegations stating frontman Brent Walsh sexually assaulted a woman in 2015. Yesterday, the alleged victim posted a detailed account of events that can be read here.
This morning Blake Dahlinger, drummer for the band, took to Twitter to say “I believe survivors. As of yesterday I’ve stepped away from I the Mighty.” The band also announced their hiatus in the following statement, “I the Mighty will be taking an indefinite hiatus as we process and learn more around recent allegations.”
The band’s label Equal Vision Records posted a similar statement on social media stating “We believe survivors and take allegations of sexual assault very seriously. I the Mighty will be on indefinite hiatus while we process these allegations.”
Walsh has posted a statement of his own, available in full here.
Bad Dad (occasionally called Ed) has been on the periphery of the punk and punk-adjacent scene for over twenty years. While many contributors to this site have musical experience and talent, Ed’s musical claim to fame comes from his time in arguably the most punk rock Blockbuster Video district in NJ where he worked alongside members of Blanks 77, Best Hit TV and Brian Fallon. He is more than just an awful father to his 2 daughters, he is also a dreadful husband, a subpar writer, a terrible dresser and has a severe deficiency in all things talent… but hey, at least he’s self-aware, amirite?
