Be sure to visit the TGEFM website all day! Not every post for new releases will be shared to social media*, so you’re likely missing A LOT unless you come to the website!
Today starts the May 2023 edition of Bandcamp Friday. This is an important day, especially for small bands and labels, as Bandcamp waives their take of any purchases made on the platform.
TGEFM heartily supports Bandcamp any time, but Bandcamp Friday is the day when a majority of our news posts focus on new releases and, of those new releases, solely the ones on Bandcamp. So if a band only drops their new album on streaming, their SOL (until today is over).
*As usual, we’ll be posting about a boatload more new releases than you’ll see on our social media channels, especially Facebook and Instagram. That’s because we need to be selective about how often we share our news at those venues, or else our posts will actually be shown to less people. So, as state above, be sure to visit the page often, and especially the New Releases section.
Who knows? You may just discover your next favorite band.
For those who, somehow, haven’t heard of it yet, Bandcamp Friday is a recurring series where, on the first Friday of the month, Bandcamp waives their cut of all purchases (except for payment processing fees), which mean more money goes to the musicians and labels. Bandcamp Fridays run from 12:00am to 11:59pm PST, so that means A LOT of time to share great new music with you.

the white drew carey (aka – Jeff Sorley) is the founder and head editor of TGEFM. He’s lived (outside of) Chicago, Madison WI, (ugh) Penn State, Lyon FR, Oxford UK, central New Jersey, and now within earshot of SFO in the Bay Area. When not scouring the web for more great bands and labels to post about, he also spends time drawing (mostly) silly sci-fi and anime stuff under the name Asplenia Studios.
