A message of greetings and joy from the founder and headitor*, Jeff Sorley, and some fun TGEFM stats to brighten your day.
Well… we made it past the first year!
That’s Good Enough For Me officially turns 1 today. Happy birthday, fella.
We couldn’t have made it this far without a lot of things falling into place. That includes a great team of contributors who are willing to throw their time into something that, often, pays only in the cold hard currency of… satisfaction.
Of course that really also includes a bunch of people like yourself (yes, YOU) who are willing to take a chance on a new music news site that loves all kinds of music, and wants to to champion bands both mind-numbingly huge all the way to teeny tiny small (or, as we like to say: “up-and-coming”).
And, yes, TGEFM is still small, but we continue to grow. Here are some of the more interesting stats and tidbits from our past year:
- TGEFM has published over 3900 posts since our launch on 01 May 2020.
- Over 17 contributors have written posts, although the bulk (4/5ths) have come from three contributors.
- Those posts have received over 70,000 views across 44,000 visits to the site.
- Our most viewed post was for Danziger‘s new video “Losing Me” back in November.
- On launch day we posted our very first Quarantine Concert Roundup (where we provide links to the day’s streaming events). In all we have posted 212 QCRs thus far.
- We also recently transitioned to a regularly-scheduled Corralling the New Releases post on Tuesdays and Fridays, where we roundup a bunch of the new releases from the day as well any we may have missed over the past week. Since then we have published 74 Corrals just chock full of great music.
- TGEFM’s team have posted 259 great reviews (we need to work on that…. more reviewers needed). That includes 27 in our recently-launched Anniversary Review series, where we look back on an album (and the band itself) on the 10, 15, 20, etc.-year anniversary of its release.
- Mike Elfers and, at times Tiffa or myself as co-host, has also powered through 27 Who’s Zoomin’ Who? video interviews so far, with more to come.
- TGEFM’s fanbase on Facebook recently surpassed 5,000 Likes/Followers. A bit over a month ago we also started posting our news stories on Instagram, where our following has grown to over 650. We get a lot of traffic from Twitter, despite only having 127 followers there.
What to expect in the coming year? More of the great music coverage far and wide that you’ve come to know and love. TGEFM is also looking to expand with more features, more interviews, and more reviews!
We’ll keep doing this not because it pays well (it doesn’t), but because we love this music so much, we love the bands that make the music and… well… we love you!
– Jeff “the white drew carey” Sorley
*Thanks Mike and Tien…
the white drew carey (aka – Jeff Sorley) is the founder and head editor of TGEFM. He’s lived (outside of) Chicago, Madison WI, (ugh) Penn State, Lyon FR, Oxford UK, central New Jersey, and now within earshot of SFO in the Bay Area. When not scouring the web for more great bands and labels to post about, he also spends time drawing (mostly) silly sci-fi and anime stuff under the name Asplenia Studios.
