One would think that the closing track on Mexico City quartet Descartes a Kant‘s 2023 LP After Destruction wouldn’t warrant a music video. It is just under two minutes of mostly ambient music with a computer program talking over. The band only shows up twice, in the same static pose at the beginning and end.
But it’s not to be taken as a stand-alone. The video, coupled with others from the new album, are all part of an audio visual collection directed by Persia Campbell. Once taken in whole with the others, it makes a lot more sense.
Out in Sep 2023 via Cleopatra Records. After Destruction is available Bandcamp, or Spotify for streaming.
