Jersey Interchange, a collective of Garden State musicians coming together to cover classic songs from the local punk, ska and hardcore scenes, have released their version of “Gone” by The Bouncing Souls off of 2001’s classic How I Spent My Summer Vacation.
This week, Jeff Davidson of The Routine and formerly of Catch-22, The Derringers and Self-Image Collective and Nick Afflito (Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution, One Cool Guy) joins Jersey Interchange mastermind Christian Lesperance (Never Again) and a collection of friends nicknamed the Boardwalk Souls to record the track on the infamous Asbury Park Boardwalk.
Previous Jersey Interchange collaborations feature members of Bigwig, Folly, and Midtown among others covering the likes Misfits, Weston, and Lifetime.
Thanks to archivist Joe Pulito (Break Away, Slurp 37) doing the Lord’s work, you can find many of the original tracks along with the entire discography of the Jersey Interchange at the ultra-expansive NJPP Archives here.
Bad Dad (occasionally called Ed) has been on the periphery of the punk and punk-adjacent scene for over twenty years. While many contributors to this site have musical experience and talent, Ed’s musical claim to fame comes from his time in arguably the most punk rock Blockbuster Video district in NJ where he worked alongside members of Blanks 77, Best Hit TV and Brian Fallon. He is more than just an awful father to his 2 daughters, he is also a dreadful husband, a subpar writer, a terrible dresser and has a severe deficiency in all things talent… but hey, at least he’s self-aware, amirite?
