In 1988, Lookout Records! released The Thing That Ate Floyd, a 33 song compilation showcasing the Bay Area punk scene which was bubbling with new and emerging talent, bands like Operation Ivy, Mr. T. Experience, and Crimpshrine who packed the sweltering room at 924 Gilman Street with percolating teenagers every weekend, thus giving birth to one of the most pivotal movements in punk rock history and available as one tight little package.
Vinyl collectors and nerds can find original pressings of the comp on Discogs for about $100.00 or so, however through the power of the internet and the help of a few archivists, Lavasocks Records is reissuing all 33 tracks of The Thing That Ate Floyd on vinyl, soon to be available on May 7, 2021.
Pre-order available here.
