Lido Beach drop “The Kelli Song (Oh, Lucky Me)” charity single co-written with Kim Shattuck

Lido Beach have done double-duty by releasing a brand new single, and reminding us of the legacy of the late The Muffs front woman Kim Shattuck. The new song, “The Kelli Song (Oh, Lucky Me),” was co-written with Shattuck, who Lido Beach frontman Scott Waldman worked with and managed.

Per Scott:

I used to manage Kim as a songwriter and producer. We wrote this song together and shortly thereafter she revealed to me that she had some form of ALS and had stopped producing and writing. She and I had the chance to write “The Kelli Song (Oh, Lucky Me)” in 2018. I spoke with the publisher then, and Kim passed. There is never the right time to release a song from the dead or by the deceased. I decided to put this track as the meat (track 2) of the upcoming Lido Beach three-song EP ‘Sweat Equity’. I’ll never play it live, but we are donating half of its proceeds towards ALS research. I hope that Kim would be happy. I miss her.

The band hasn’t specified which ALS research organization will be the beneficiary of the partial proceeds from the track, but TGEFM has reached out for that information and will update this post accordingly.
