Live review: The Linda Lindas – Summer Tour 2024 at The Camel

Richmond, VA – 28 July 2024

The Linda Lindas bring youth energy and a veteran performance.

The Linda Lindas are currently on tour with Green Day, Rancid, and The Smashing Pumpkins at certain stops. If you just want to see The Linda Lindas, the ticket price at these shows may be a little hefty for some but luckily, they are headlining some side shows across the US. We decided to check them out at their headlining show in Richmond, VA

Bacchae (pronounced Bock-Eye) took the stage first to get the crowd warmed up and they did just that. I had not heard Bacchae before and so I went in without any expectations. Some of their songs were pop-punk and some were more indie rock. The bands duo vocalists Katie and Rena both brought very positive energy and whether or not you loved their music, their positive and appreciative attitude made you a fan. It was a good fit for the show and set everyone up nicely for the night’s main attraction.

By the time Bacchae finished their set, the venue had filled in for the sold-out show. As I somewhat expected the front row was filled mostly with kids and teenagers, but as I looked around the room the age diversity was fully represented. The turnaround between bands was very quick and The Linda Lindas wasted no time going right into “Growing Up”. They brought so much energy to the live versions of their songs yet performed without seeming to ever play the wrong chord or miss a beat. Rarely have I seen a band put such a live feel to their music while keeping it very polished and clean. They ripped through about 22 songs in total including a few cover favorites like Talking Heads “Found a Job”, The Go Go’s “Tonite” and ending the show with Bikini Kill’s “Rebel Girl”.

They were not only interactive with the fans throughout the show but took a group photo with the audience after the show. I want to give Mila a special thank you for giving my daughter a drumstick and although we missed out on getting an “official” set list from the stage, they handed out copies of the set list for everyone that wanted one. It was a fantastic show, the venue had great sound, it was a great vibe, and the only thing you could have asked more of, was more songs, and they didn’t have any more, but they are working on it.
