Las Vegas punk/metal/comedy trio release their sophomore LP Return of the Ham. Definitely brings to mind 1) The Vandals at their heaviest and, 2) The Vandals at their least serious. Here’s the thing: This would be harder to pull off if Battering Ham weren’t good at the music part of things. Obviously, they’re tongue-in-cheek (“George Takei vs. Uranus” demonstrates some hilarious self-awareness), and toe the line between raunchy humor and poor taste. Having been introduced to punk via The Dead Milkmen and M.O.D., I can appreciate it as more of the latter.
