Per their Bandcamp page, Ohio quartet The 1984 Draft describe themselves as “channel(ing) alt-folk sensibilities through a ’90s emo and indie lens, is recommended for fans of The Replacements, Beach Slang, The Smoking Popes, Sugar and Cheap Girls.”
I’m not going to argue with that and, to be honest, a lot of those bands are what came up in my head when I first heard the band. One of the vocalists sounds like Bob Mould and Jon Snodgrass had a baby. That’s a good thing.
Their new album, Best Friends Forever, is out now via the team of Poptek Records (US), Sell The Heart Records (US), and Engineer Records (UK/EU), and is a available as a digital download or on vinyl at their Bandcamp and, of course, streaming at Spotify.
the white drew carey (aka – Jeff Sorley) is the founder and head editor of TGEFM. He’s lived (outside of) Chicago, Madison WI, (ugh) Penn State, Lyon FR, Oxford UK, central New Jersey, and now within earshot of SFO in the Bay Area. When not scouring the web for more great bands and labels to post about, he also spends time drawing (mostly) silly sci-fi and anime stuff under the name Asplenia Studios.
