Like a lot of us, Mike Park has been doing some tidying in these COVID times. Apparently he came across a recording of his first band’s demo and, unashamed of history, put it on Bandcamp. Now you can enjoy Psychiatric Disorder, too!
The demo, titled Church Street Sessions is, admittedly, of poor quality. Per the album’s description:
Recorded on a boom box in 1985 in the basement of the Los Gatos Methodist Church. This was the first band of ME(mike park). I didn’t know how to play guitar. i just watched the bass player and put my fingers wherever his went. ENJOY the chaos.
If you really want to own a piece of history, the album is a available as a name-your-price download, as well.
So sit back, check out the longest song on the album “Crack In The Wall,” and enjoy the fact that even our best and brightest were once learning how to play, too.
the white drew carey (aka – Jeff Sorley) is the founder and head editor of TGEFM. He’s lived (outside of) Chicago, Madison WI, (ugh) Penn State, Lyon FR, Oxford UK, central New Jersey, and now within earshot of SFO in the Bay Area. When not scouring the web for more great bands and labels to post about, he also spends time drawing (mostly) silly sci-fi and anime stuff under the name Asplenia Studios.
