Dark Horse Records have revealed a previously unreleased version of Joe Strummer performing “Junco Partner.” The song, originally released by blues musician James Waynes in 1951, was a common addition to Strummer’s performances after appearing on The Clash‘s 1980 Sandinista! album. This particular recording was discovered amongst Strummer’s collection of hand-labelled tapes.
The track will be included on the upcoming ASSEMBLY album, which features live, b-sides, and rarities from Strummer’s storied career. That album will be released 26 Mar 2021, and you can pre-order/pre-save it from here.
