Premiere: Bathroom of the Future debut new single/video “Watching Bill & Ted Outside”

Today TGEFM is super-stoked to bring you a new single and video from Michigan pop-punk (nerd-punks, even?) trio ! The new track is called “Watching Bill & Ted Outside,” and it comes off of the band’s forthcoming Everybody Else Here is Having Fun EP (more on that in a bit).

Tim David, guitarist and vocalist for the band, has this to say about what the song is about, and how the video takes a different tack from the subject matter of the song itself:

Our song “Watching Bill & Ted Outside”… is a brief tale of love, anxiety, and being taken to see your favorite movie. It was inspired in large part by a trip to see Bill & Ted Face the Music at the one surviving drive-in in Michigan back when that was kinda your only option for seeing a movie (safely), but the bulk of the lyrics are derived from how my girlfriend is very good about helping me get out of my various little funks when I need to get out into the world and do something, even if I’m pretty resistant to the idea at first. It’s kind of a pleasant change of pace from a lot of the lyrics from our last full-length Words I Had, which tended to revolve around my internalized anxiety and how I would project that onto others even if it wasn’t always the case.

The video, however, is a different story. It was directed by long-time friend Ryan Miloch of Michigan band Sleepology, and was filmed at my parents’ house while they weren’t home one sunny afternoon. The only concept for the video was the idea I had about seeing someone get splashed with water while they were trying to lipsync, and everyone else kinda fleshed it out into the idea of a very one-sided water gun fight. In a way, it absolutely fits the theme of the EP, given the title – I’m the only one here clearly not having a good time, but dammit I’m gonna sing anyway.

Everybody Else Here is Having Fun will be out on all major streaming platforms (as well as limited physical releases) on 15 Jun 2021. Spotify users can pre-save the EP here.

If you like what you hear and want to keep track of the band, you can find them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or directly at the Bathroom of the Future website.

For now, though, sit back and enjoy “Watching Bill & Ted Outside.” There’s a lot of water.
