Premiere: “Clear the Decks” in new single by Zero Cost

Hot on the heels of our earlier premiere today, we have yet another UK act and another great track to premiere! It’s almost like the UK just pumps out great music, or something?

Hailing from Hull, in Yorkshire, Zero Cost play a straight-forward style of sing-along punk, and have been pretty active since their debut track, a cover of Misfits “Skulls” in Oct 2021. In the time since they’ve dropped another cover and two original singles, all of which are bangers.

Which brings us to why we’re here today: TGEFM is simply over the moon to premiere the new single by Zero Cost, “Clear The Decks”. The song is the first single from their upcoming, debut EP, which is due out next month (more details on that coming soon). The band discusses the inspiration behind the song:

It’s about being sick and tired of the current political regime’s bullshit and calling out for a total clearing of the decks to allow for something better. A society with a much less prominent gulf between the wealthy and the poor, a well-funded and administered social safety net for the vulnerable. The song is saying that we won’t shut up until we have this and we’re a long way from it in the current climate.

A strong political message through punk music? You’d almost think that the UK has a history of that, too.

You can check out the new single and, guess what? Zero Cost also have a couple of gigs lined up before the end of the year, including one tomorrow! Information on those, as well as all the links you can shake a Tory at, are underneath the song embed below.
