Chicago melodic punks Heavy Seas are preparing for the 11 July release of their third full-length By Degrees via Cobra Cafe Records. In anticipation of the upcoming release, TGEFM is thrilled to premiere the new single “Expressed.”
The band’s guitarist/vocalist Jeff Dean explains the single:
Music and the relationships you have with the people you create with can get tumultuous. Love and trust can be mistaken for talent that people bring and can sometimes end bad and complicated in the way a marriage could. Unfortunately most end this way with people going separate ways and the only thing left are these moments that maybe you were lucky enough to document
Dean is joined on this record by co-producer J Robbins of Jawbox and Burning Airlines on bass and drummer Ronnie Dicola (Local H, The Arrivals) for By Degrees.

Bad Dad (occasionally called Ed) has been on the periphery of the punk and punk-adjacent scene for over twenty years. While many contributors to this site have musical experience and talent, Ed’s musical claim to fame comes from his time in arguably the most punk rock Blockbuster Video district in NJ where he worked alongside members of Blanks 77, Best Hit TV and Brian Fallon. He is more than just an awful father to his 2 daughters, he is also a dreadful husband, a subpar writer, a terrible dresser and has a severe deficiency in all things talent… but hey, at least he’s self-aware, amirite?
