Premiere: Got the “Leather Jacket Blues”? That’s The Problem With Kids Today

Do you know The Problem With Kids Today? No, not the normal grievances about society’s youth, I’m talking about the Connecticut-based rock n’ roll trio, and they’ve got their sophomore full-length coming early next year. Born to Rock will be out 09 Feb 2024, with digital preorders up now at their Bandcamp page. For those who like streaming, there’s a Spotify pre-save link over at their Distrokid page.

Do you want to know something else about The Problem With Kids Today? They’ve got a new video and TGEFM is super-pumped to premiere it for you. The track, the second pre-release single from the album, is “Leather Jacket Blues.” It’s a fast, rambunctious trip of fuzzy power rock with some garage punk undertones. It goes by pretty quick, too… you could fit over six of ’em into one play of “November Rain.”

And for the video? TPWKT get fully decked out in leather and, I’m sure, the blues. It’s a fun time!

Vocalist/guitarist Tate Brooks says about the song:

Leather Jacket Blues” is a toe-tapping, pulse-pounding, tongue-in-cheek classic punk song. It exists somewhere between parody and pastiche, having a go at those that take themselves too seriously, the ones that with a straight face say “you can’t be a punk if you don’t have a felony“. At the same time it embraces that punk ethos that we all love, one of directness, honesty, and fun. Clocking in at a brisk 1:24, The Kids slam through the song at a frenetic pace, leaving no room for frills – or survivors. It was written in an afternoon following a short weekend tour. The band had noticed how much crowds responded to harder and faster songs. We wanted to dance and shout and bang into each other, so we wrote a song that does exactly that.

Guess what? They’re also going to be gigging over the coming months. I guess the problem with The Problem With Kids Today is that they’re just too darn productive. Slow down, you’re making us look bad! See info on those tour dates below and, underneath, direct links to their socials and purchase/streaming sites.
