GVRDEN is back in the TGEFM premiere game! Today we’re so lucky to bring the Connecticut alt-rock act’s newest track, a cover of the Linkin Park song “Breaking the Habit”, which originally appears on the 2004 Meteora LP.
When asked what lead them to cover this particular track, the band replied
In July of 2017, GVRDEN was waist-deep into our first cross-country tour. We were en route to KS city for our set at Aftershock Festival when we heard the terrible news that (Linkin Park vocalist) Chester Bennington had passed away. Chester was a phenomenal musician, who has been such a monumental influence in our lives, as well as countless others. We put together this cover of “Breaking The Habit” in his memory as a tribute to his work and contributions, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it. Always look out for your friends, relatives and close ones, and if you find yourself in a bad place, you are not in this alone, reach out for help.
Bennington was found dead by suicide on 20 July 2017. As the band strongly implores, and TGEFM 110% supports, if you are having thoughts of self-harm or suicide, please call your local national crisis line. You are not alone.
In the meantime, check out the new cover below.
GVRDEN will also be playing the Shoreline Summer Festival in East Haven, CT on 30 Jun 2022, supporting A Will Away, The Color Fred and more. You can check out the poster for the festival below and, underneath, links to their socials to support the band.
